Mongolia and Iran agreed to conclude agreements in the field of road and air transport

Minister of Road and Transport Development S. Byambatsogt held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Mongolia Mohsen Bakhtiar and agreed to conclude intergovernmental agreements on air services and international road transport between the two countries in the near future.

The conclusion of these agreements gives Mongolian carriers the opportunity to carry out transportation to Middle Eastern countries such as Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates via Iran. In addition, it is assumed that Mongolia will gain access to the Indian Ocean through the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas.

The intergovernmental agreements will also increase exports, imports and transit transport of the western region of Mongolia, including the export of Mongolian lamb to Iran and the import of various fruits, vegetables, construction materials and light industrial products from Iran. As reported by the Ministry of Road and Transport Development, as a result, the exports of the two countries, mutual trips of citizens, trade between enterprises, economic relations and trade turnover between the two countries will increase.
